HORMONE HEALTH

It’s not you, its your hormones!

We all experience periods of hormonal imbalances at some point in our lives. From puberty to around our mid-30s, hormone levels are stable and fluctuate naturally each month with the menstrual cycle. Hormone imbalances can cause PMT, painful or heavy periods and conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS or fibroids.

From our late 30s, we can experience perimenopause symptoms which can feel like a rollercoaster of symptoms and emotions. Oestrogen and progesterone levels gradually decline causing irregular periods, mood changes and hot flushes. Some women sail through this stage of life but most have mild or debilitating symptoms. It’s common to not realise you are in perimenopause as you may think you’re too young or your symptoms are caused by something else.

Hormone imbalances also occur when the endocrine glands are not functioning properly such as the adrenals, pituitary and thyroid glands. Everything we do affects our hormones and stress has a major impact. Hormone imbalances really impact our daily lives and cause a range of problems which can make you feel like you’re losing control.
